The Smart's construction uses a special low-porosity 0-3 cfm fabric, FX-11. In addition to providing a lower volume, this fabric also offers greater longevity and, above all, ease of handling. Spectra lines and multiple reinforcement braids are also part of the construction. Additional strength is provided by the use of lateral reinforcement braids between the line attachment lugs and the reinforcement partitions, which are distributed from the controls. The result is a rescue glider that resists potential impact at today's sink speeds, without opening violently. It also offers an astonishing glide angle for a 7-cell, which considerably increases the chance of landing in the right place. Another important point is the large control range, which reduces the risk of stalling on landing, a phenomenon common to other brands.
