In 2002, UPT decided that an update to the Vector 2 student equipment was necessary. We had already ceased production of the Vector 2 sports system, but had continued to produce the Vector 2 student system as a low-cost alternative to the DZO™, but we identified a need to keep up with the times and update to the latest technology of the day.

• EngineeringWe proceeded with the design in the following way. Firstly, we wanted a container that was still cost-effective, comfortable, easy to use and maintain, while using the latest technology to ensure the safest container for inexperienced jumpers. Many other manufacturers have chosen to add student options to their sports equipment, which is not very cost-effective and difficult to maintain, with features that are not necessarily beneficial to student operations.
• ComfortWe based the back and yoke on our already popular Vector 3 container - we also added extra foam padding to the shorts with a wide double strap. The leggings also feature a simple adjustment system to fit a wider range of jumpers.
• CostWe have deliberately set the cost of this container lower than that of our sports container. We were able to do this by simplifying the container without compromising safety and strength. For example, we changed the design of the central flap to a 3-stripe design instead of a 5-stripe design, saving an hour in production costs. We also eliminated the wrap-around corners on the main container, while retaining excellent flange protection. We reduced the number of options available, saving time in the production and inspection process.
• Ease of useWe've removed the internal riser covers to simplify packing for inexperienced jumpers. We've also added the rescue parachute and AAD windows so that instructors can perform more efficient equipment checks without opening the flaps, which is particularly useful in smaller aircraft. The external riser covers have been designed for easy replacement. All components are less costly to replace, contributing to your profitability.
• Technology and safetyThe Skyhook system has become standard equipment on all SE containers. It is the latest reserve deployment system. This device contributes to the student's well-being and confidence after a cut, while allowing the reserve parachute to be deployed in around 33 meters. The container is also built to UPT's usual quality and support standards, in accordance with ISO 9001:2000.
